Say hello to Spring in the Smoky Mountains! This beautiful season is the perfect time of year to gather your family and friends and visit Pigeon Forge. Temperatures slowly start to rise, wildflowers start to bloom, and attractions return to their normal operating schedules. Are you searching for the perfect place to spend Spring Break? Here are 5 reasons to spend Spring in Pigeon Forge:
1. Avoid Peak Crowds
Are you hoping to avoid heavy traffic, long lines, and expensive lodging? You’ll want to plan a Spring trip to Pigeon Forge! While there is never technically an “off-season” in the Smokies, Spring sees fewer crowds than the busy summer and fall seasons. There’s always a chance for traffic and wait times at attractions and restaurants, but you’ll be able to fit more into your vacation itinerary if you visit in the Spring. Lodging prices tend to be lower during this time of year as well!
2. Enjoy Beautiful Temperatures for Outdoor Adventures
Spring in Pigeon Forge tends to have mild temperatures. On average, temperatures range in the 60s and 70s during the day. This makes for the perfect weather to explore the great outdoors! Some popular outdoor activities to do during the Spring include hiking, zip lining, and horseback riding. Driving to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park will provide endless outdoor experiences, but even just a walk along the river will lead to beautiful views!
3. Keep an Eye Out for Wildflowers
Spring welcomes thousands of beautiful wildflowers in the Smoky Mountains. Peak season to see the wildflowers is early Spring though early summer. The Spring ephemerals are the most famous wildflowers in the park! There are more species of flowering plants in the park than any other park in the country, so it truly is a sight to see in the Spring. One popular way to see the wildflowers is by going for a hike. We recommend hiking Porters Creek Trail for the chance to see wildflowers and a gorgeous waterfall!
4. Be Some of the First to Experience New Seasons at Attractions
Pigeon Forge is back in full swing when Spring hits! When you plan your Spring vacation to this popular town, you can be some of the first to experience new seasons at area attractions! Some attractions, like Dolly Parton’s Stampede and Dollywood, close for a period of time during the winter and reopen in the Spring. Our show, Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud, is kicking off a new season as well! You don’t want to miss the chance to experience all the fun and adventure at these Pigeon Forge attractions.
5. Attend a Dollywood Festival
There’ll be no shortage of fun in Pigeon Forge during Spring. When you visit during this time of the year, you’ll have the opportunity to attend an exciting Dollywood Festival. The park’s Flower & Food Festival takes place each Spring, giving visitors the opportunity to see larger-than-life mosaicultures and try unique foods. While you’re there, enjoy the rest of what Dollywood has to offer, including exciting rides, shops, live shows, and more.
