You may have heard about the two famous, quarreling families from Kentucky and West Virginia, but our Pigeon Forge dinner show tells the story of the lesser-known feud between a branch of the family tree. To help you learn more about the families involved in this decades-long feud, we’re answering one popular question: Who are the Hatfields and McCoys?
Who Are the Hatfields?
The Hatfields are known for their clogging skills and musical talents. The family moved to the Smoky Mountains in hopes of finding a quieter place away from the “crazy” McCoy family. Pa Hatfield wanted somewhere that his daughters could practice their dancing and music and gain the fame and fortune that they deserve, and he believed the Smoky Mountain area was the place to be. The Hatfields featured in the show include Pa Hatfield, his three daughters, and more family members who decided to move to the Smokies with them.
Who Are the McCoys?
Unfortunately for Pa Hatfield, Ma McCoy had a similar idea. The McCoys are known for their musical talents, and Ma McCoy was hoping Pigeon Forge would be the place where her three sons’ talents on the bass, banjo, and fiddle would finally be appreciated. She packed up her family and moved to the Smoky Mountains, not knowing her rivals, the Hatfields, were already there! The McCoys featured in the show are Ma McCoy, her three sons, and more family members who joined them in Pigeon Forge.
About the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud
Between the two families, there was so much entertaining talent, and the mayor in town noticed. He decided to stir the pot and have the two families compete to see who comes out on top. The show begins with clogging and musical competitions, with the Hatfield family having an edge when it comes to clogging and the McCoy family having an edge when it comes to musical instruments. The two families then realized they could accomplish so much more if they joined forces, putting on a fun-filled show together!
The Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud features singing and dancing, mighty feats of strength, jaw-dropping stunts, and side-splitting comedy. You’ll also have the chance to see diving dogs and hillbillies make a splash, along with the addition of a high-flying contraption that helps the sheriff keep an eye on the feuding families.
