If you’ve already been to a lot of the popular attractions and explored the top tourist spots, it might be time to try something new on your next vacation. There are a few hidden gem activities in the area that we think you’ll love! To help you decide what to do, we’ve made a list of our favorite unique things to do in Pigeon Forge:
Enjoy an All-You-Can-Eat Feast at Our Show
Did you know we have the only show in town where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat feast while you watch? It’s the perfect combination of food and fun. You won’t find a meal quite like ours at any regular restaurant in town. Only at the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud will you have a full Southern homestyle feast in front of you while you watch two feuding families perform jaw-dropping stunts, songs and dances, mighty feats of strength, and more! Our feast includes Feudin’ Fried Chick’n, Open Pit Pulled-to-Pieces Pork Barbeque, Southern Style Creamy Soup, Smashed Mashed Taters, Buttery Corn on the Cob, Ma’s Hot Homemade Bread, No Tellin’ What’s In It Coleslaw, Granny’s Famous Specialty Dessert, and unlimited Coca-Cola®, tea, or coffee.
Dine With Animatronic Chickens
Ready for another unique dining experience? Visit Frizzle Chicken Café! This Pigeon Forge restaurant serves up the most fun Southern-style breakfast and lunch. While you dine, enjoy singing, animatronic chickens! It’s the perfect spot to bring your kids — they can even get specialty pancakes shaped like animals, including their famous Bear Cakes. The singing and dancing chickens will keep you entertained, while the food will have you leaving full and happy. It’s by far one of our favorite unique things to do in Pigeon Forge!
Transform Into a Pirate or a Mermaid
Did you know that there are pirates and mermaids in the heart of the Smoky Mountains? All you have to do is visit Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show. Not only will you have the opportunity to watch sword-fighting pirates and high-diving mermaids, but you’ll be able to transform into one yourself! Pirates Voyage offers a unique pre-show experience for those who arrive early. Join the Crew allows guests of all ages to choose between a pirate or a mermaid makeover for an additional fee. Pirate makeovers include facial makeup, a bandana or pirate hat, an earring and eye patch, and a sword and flag. Mermaid makeovers include facial makeup, a tiara, earrings, a wand, and a flag. Whichever you choose, you’ll feel like you’re a part of the show!
Explore Hidden Gems in the National Park
Just a short drive from Pigeon Forge is the country’s most visited national park, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While we’re sure you’ve heard and even visited some of the more popular places in the park, like Cades Cove and Laurel Falls, there are a few hidden gems worth exploring while you’re in the area. One of the top hidden gems is the House of Fairies. To get to the House of the Fairies, you’ll hike the Twin Creek Trail. It’s an old springhouse that was once part of a larger estate. The exterior and interior are completely constructed of stone, with the stone covered in moss. Another hidden gem is Elkmont Ghost Town. What was once a bustling logging area and resort community turned into a ghost town following the establishment of the national park. Now, visitors can explore some of the abandoned buildings and walk across the Elkmont Troll Bridge! Exploring the hidden gems in the national park is a great way to uncover more favorite spots in the Smokies.
Enjoy a 25-Pound Apple Pie at Dollywood
Dollywood is a popular attraction in itself, but there are some unique things to do at the theme park that you have to try if you haven’t already — one of which is enjoying a 25-pound apple pie you can find in the Spotlight Bakery. You’ll smell the sweet aroma of the pie near the entrance of the park, drawing you into the bakery. The pie is made with about 35-40 apples, butter, cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar, then brushed with butter and sprinkled with sugar before baking. You can choose to order a single slice, which weighs 3 pounds and serves 4 people, or you can take home the whole pie, which is enough to feed 32 people! If you purchase the whole pie, you’ll get to take it home in its cast-iron skillet. Other sweet treats you shouldn’t miss at Dollywood are the world-famous cinnamon bread, funnel cakes, and freshly baked cookies.
